Meet Dr. Michele Collier

Waterstone Family Dentistry

Overview

Born and raised in Queens, New York, Dr. Michele Collier received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University and her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from New York University. She went on to complete a general practice residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York.

Dr. Collier enjoys the diversity that comes with being a general dentist, working in a setting where one may start the day placing a tooth-colored restoration on a child’s cavity and end the day restoring an implant for an elderly patient. To ensure her patients benefit from the latest in cutting-edge dental technology, Dr. Collier frequently attends courses and conferences across the country.

Outside of the office, Dr. Collier is a global traveler, an avid reader and book club member, a gardener, and a long-distance runner. She also enjoys attending the symphony and the theatre.

Your Non-Judgmental Dental Home

One of the biggest obstacles in seeking dental care is the fear of feeling judged. We understand that there are genuine reasons people avoid the dentist, such as a prior negative experience or dental anxiety. Sometimes, financial constraints can lead to dental neglect, which can in turn lead to poor dental health and cause shame. These hurdles can cause minor dental issues to evolve into more serious ones, mentally overwhelm someone, and inhibit them from seeking dental care. These patients will often ask, “Is this the worst mouth you have ever seen?” They feel bad about themselves and anticipate judgment over their dental health.

We want you to know that there is no shame in needing dental work. We will never judge. Our goal is to listen, to empathize, and to help. We will help you overcome any mental blocks that have prevented you from getting the dental care that you deserve. No matter your starting point, we can help you on your personal pathway to better oral health.

Relaxation and Sedation Dentist

We offer Nitrous Oxide and Oral Sedation to help patients with dental anxiety relax and get their treatment completed.

  • We have TVs overhead as an added distraction.
  • We encourage patients to bring AirPods or headphones to play music that best relaxes them and to drown out the noise from our dental tools.
  • We have single-use stress balls that can ease tension and stress.
  • The office has soothing beachy colors to create a comfortable, tranquil environment.
  • We use Cartridge Warmers to warm the numbing cartridge, so you experience less discomfort during the injection of the anesthetic.

Been going here for years and so does my mother and both of my children. The dentist is top notch. Amazing dentist and just a wonderful person to know. Her staff is also incredible but that’s because of who they work for. Hope to not ever have to look for a replacement because they are irreplaceable!
